First Avenue Mile
The First Avenue Mile is a running event located in Hibbing, Minnesota. The race takes place on a point-to-point course along 1st Avenue, starting at the address 3401 1st Ave. The event features a single distance:
- 1 Mile
Participants choose from three different starting waves based on their pace: competitive, recreational, or relaxed. All results are combined regardless of the starting wave to determine final standings. All participants are required to register online prior to the event to facilitate bib pick-up, which takes place on-site before the waves begin.
The first 250 registered participants are guaranteed an event t-shirt. All finishers receive a commemorative keychain and refreshments upon completing the mile.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in several age categories. These groups include participants aged 0-13, 14-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, and 55 and up. The awards consist of street sign trophies. The course is lined with music and spectators from the local community to support the runners.
