Event Overview
The Victory 5K is a community run and walk event held in Hibbing, Minnesota. The race is sanctioned and certified by USATF, ensuring the course meets specific standards for competitive participants. The Victory 5K utilizes chip timing for all participants. While the top male and female finishers are determined by gun time, all other age group results are based on chip time. Results are submitted to USATF Minnesota and are eligible for records and runner of the year lists. Participants who register by the April deadline are guaranteed a customized bib, shirt, and finisher's medal.
The Kids Fun Run is an event for children aged 10 and under. It takes place on a loop around the school grounds following the 5K. Participation in the fun run is free, and all finishers receive a treat.
Awards and Recognition
The event includes a variety of categories for individual and team recognition. Individual awards are presented to the top male and female runners, the top three finishers in eight different age divisions roaming from 0-10 to 60+, and the top three finishers in the walking and wheelchair divisions.
Team awards focus on participation and creativity rather than speed. Categories include the Best Name Award, Spirit Award, Largest Team Award, Best Dressed Award, and an award for the largest age range within a single team.
Community Activities
The weekend includes a pasta fundraiser held on the Friday evening prior to the race. This meal features homemade sauce and meatballs, with takeout options available. Proceeds from the race and the dinner support the students of Victory Christian Academy and the patients of Project Care Free Clinic, which provides healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured individuals in Hibbing.
