Event Overview

The 40th Firecracker 5k Run Walk is scheduled for July 4, 2026, at Rockford Tower on Lookout Drive in Wilmington, Delaware. The event offers a 5k run/walk and a separate 5k competitive walking category.

Distances and Registration

Participants can choose from two categories:

5k Registration: For running or walking.
COMPETITIVE WALKING 5K: A category exclusively for walkers; no running or jogging is permitted.

Day-of-race registration is available. Results from the 2024 event are posted online.

Amenities and Awards

The first 175 participants receive a commemorative 40th-annual shirt. Post-race amenities include refreshments, music, hot dogs, and Playa Bowl samples. Awards are given to top finishers overall and for masters (male/female), the top three in 10-year age groups from 13 & under through 70 & over, and the top three male and female walkers.

Logistics

The event is chip-timed using the MYLAPS BibTag system. No dogs are allowed, and bibs are non-transferable. Registration fees are non-refundable. Results and photos are posted online after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
