40th Firecracker 5k Run Walk
The event is a community 5-kilometer run/walk held at Rockford Tower, Lookout Drive, Wilmington, DE 19806 on July 4, 2026. Day-of-race registration is available. Registration for the standard 5K and a competitive walking 5K is listed at $39.03 for the registration period shown.
Event options include:
- 5K run/walk entry
- Competitive walking 5K where participants must walk the entire race, with no running or jogging permitted
Amenities listed for participants include unisex tee shirts for the first 175 participants, post-race refreshments and music, hot dogs, and sample servings from Playa Bowls. Timing is provided with chip timing using the MYLAPS BibTag system through R2R Timing. Top finisher awards for overall and masters categories are scored by gun time, and other age groups are scored by chip net time. Awards are also offered for top finishers in ten-year age groups from 13 and under through 70 and over, plus awards to top three male and female walkers.
Results are posted online during and after the event. Photos are posted on the organizer's Facebook page after the event. Race policies include no dogs due to insurance liability, non-transferable bibs, and no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
