Firecracker 5K - Marengo
The Firecracker 5K Run/Walk is a 3.1 Miles course in Marengo, Indiana. The route begins at the Boys & Girls Club of Crawford County on S 2nd Street, follows SR 64 past Marengo Cave and through downtown Marengo, and finishes just across the railroad tracks in downtown Marengo.
At about the 1 mile mark the course enters the underground Marengo Warehouse for a cave like segment, then doubles back toward the downtown finish. The underground section includes several back and forth hairpin turns and leads into a corridor of offroad like but smooth terrain. The indoor portion is approximately at the 2 mile point overall and is described as having good lighting, stable cool temperature, and flat, fast terrain.
Outside the warehouse the course includes rolling hills and views of small town Indiana streets. Registration for the event carries a fee of $20.00. Additional event details will be posted later. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
