Firecracker 5K - Marengo

The Firecracker 5K is a 3.1 mile run/walk held in Marengo, Indiana on July 3, 2027. The course starts at the Boys & Girls Club of Crawford County on S 2nd Street and proceeds along SR 64, passing Marengo Cave and moving through downtown Marengo. The route includes rolling hills and a finish just across the railroad tracks in downtown Marengo.

At approximately the one mile point, participants enter the underground Marengo Warehouse for an indoor, cave-like section that doubles back toward the finish. The underground portion includes several back and forth hairpin turns and a corridor with offroad-like but smooth terrain. The indoor segment reaches about the two mile mark in total and is described as having good lighting, cooler year-round temperatures around 54 degrees, and a relatively flat, fast surface.
