The Firecracker 5K Run/Walk takes place on July 4th in Marengo, Indiana. The start and finish point is at the Marengo Boys and Girls Club on 177 South Second Street.
Course Description
The course begins at the Boys and Girls Club and proceeds down State Route 64, passing Marengo Cave. At the 1 mile mark, runners enter an underground section. This indoor portion covers about 2 miles of the total course inside a warehouse with a constant temperature of 54°F (12°C). The underground section features good lighting, hairpin turns, and a smooth, flat, offroad-like terrain. The route then doubles back, exiting to finish near an outdoor festival. The above-ground sections include rolling hills and pass through the small town.
