Events
The event includes several races:
- Women's Elite Mile - with prize money for the top three finishers.
- Men's Elite Mile - with prize money for the top three finishers.
- Community Mile Race - chip-timed with official results.
- Youth 1/2 Mile Race - for ages 10 and under, an untimed fun run on the horse track.
- Hobby Horse Hundred (100m) - two separate races for ages 5 and under, and ages 6-8; registration includes a custom-made hobby horse to keep.
- Community 5k - a professionally timed race with age group and overall awards.
Location and Course
The event takes place at the Fairgrounds in Corydon, Indiana. The mile races and youth races will be held on the Fairgrounds' crushed limestone horse track. The Community 5k is a loop course starting and finishing at the Fairgrounds. The route includes the Indian Creek Trail, historic downtown Corydon, and passes by the first state capitol building. The course features one big hill, a section of gravel, a creekside trail, and road running.
Awards and Fees
The top three finishers in the men's and women's elite mile races receive cash prizes of $100, $50, and $25. Age group winners in the other races receive an engraved "julep" glass and a Derby Day rose.
Registration fees vary by race, with discounts available for registering for multiple events. A T-shirt is optional for those who register by April 12th. For the Community 5k, children 10 and under may participate for free if accompanied by a paying adult participant. Online registration closes on May 1st, with an additional fee for race-day registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
