Event Overview
The Firecracker 4K is an annual running and walking event held at the Penn State University main campus. This race marks the beginning of the Central Pa 4thFest, a day-long celebration of Independence Day. The event takes place on the east side of the campus, with the course situated near Beaver Stadium.
Course and Logistics
The race features a 4 km route that includes a water station located at the mid-point of the course. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic apparel for the run through the university grounds. Professional timing services are provided for all participants. Post-race refreshments are available following the completion of the event. All proceeds from the race are used to support the broader 4thFest activities, which include various community events and a fireworks display later in the day.
Registration and Awards
Registration is conducted online via smartphones, tablets, or computers. Participants who register by June 25th are guaranteed a race T-shirt, which is available in both youth and adult technical styles.
Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers. Additionally, awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in several age categories: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
