Firecracker 4K : Central Pa 4thFest
The Firecracker 4K is a community 4-kilometer run and walk held as part of the Central Pa 4thFest celebration on July 4, 2026. The event starts and finishes on the Penn State main campus near Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, University Park, PA.
Online registration is open from April 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026. Day-of registration is available on site at the mezzanine inside the PSU Medlar Field Baseball Stadium on the east side of campus. Registered participants during the early signup period, which ends June 25, are guaranteed a 2026 Firecracker 4K tech shirt in Youth and Adult sizes.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age category: 10 and under, 11–14, 15–18, 19–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 and over. The course includes a mid-route water station and post-race refreshments. The race is professionally timed by Bryn Mawr Racing Co. All proceeds support Central Pa 4thFest activities.
Participants are invited to wear patriotic apparel. The event is presented as part of the broader July 4 celebration and is located at the corner of Curtin Road and Porter Road on the Penn State campus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
