Firebolt 5k and Race of 100 Harrys - In person and virtual
An event presented by Blue Ridge CASA for Children in Staunton, Virginia on September 26, 2026. The event offers both in person and virtual participation and is based at Gypsy Hill Park, 600 Churchville Avenue. Virtual entrants receive a race shirt and finisher medal by mail and may choose their own course and day to complete their run.
The Firebolt 5k uses a fairly flat, paved loop in Gypsy Hill Park. A timed race only option is available that includes professional chip timing and bib pickup on race morning but does not include a shirt or medal. The park loop will not be closed to traffic on race day and adults are encouraged to run with younger children.
The Race of 100 Harrys is a short roughly 1 km run for children. Registrations for that race include a children's T-shirt, a lightning bolt tattoo, and a Luna-inspired finisher medal.
Event-day amenities include free rides on the Gypsy Express mini train, a 9 3/4 platform photo op, complimentary duck and fish food while supplies last, picnic shelters and restrooms along Constitution Drive, and an Ollivanders Wand Shop with a Patronus game. Downtown festival activities are about a one-mile walk from Gypsy Hill Park. Timed race results will be posted at RunRoanoke. The event proceeds rain or shine; if severe weather prevents the event, medals will be available for pickup at the Blue Ridge CASA office on race day.
