Firebolt 5k and Race of 100 Harrys
Blue Ridge CASA for Children presents an event in Staunton, Virginia with both in-person and virtual participation options. The in-person venue is Gypsy Hill Park at 600 Churchville Avenue, and the event is paired with downtown festival activities a short walk from the park.
Distances:
- Firebolt 5k: fairly flat paved 5k loop at Gypsy Hill Park
- Race of 100 Harrys: about 1 km children's race with Luna inspired medal and t-shirt
In-person offerings include a Luna Lovegood–inspired race tee for each participant in a single event color, house-color bibs, free train rides on the Gypsy Hill Express, a 9 3/4 platform photo op, free duck and fish food, shade, and festival space. The Firebolt 5k course is described as fairly flat and fast. The Race of 100 Harrys is designed for young participants and includes a themed finisher medal, a child's t-shirt, and a lightning bolt tattoo.
A Timed Race Only option provides professional chip timing with bib pickup on the day of the event but does not include a t-shirt or medal. Virtual participants receive the event t-shirt and finishing medal by mail and may upload their run time by race day to contribute to house points. The park loop will remain open to traffic during the event, and adults are encouraged to accompany younger runners. Awards will recognize top male and female finishers and overall winners. The event is rain or shine; if it cannot be held for safety reasons, medals will be available for pickup at the organizer's office. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
