Fire Fighters Ten Mile Road Race
The Fire Fighters Ten Mile Road Race is a historic running event held in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Established in 1910, it holds the distinction of being the longest-standing 10-mile road race in Canada. The event takes place on the traditional lands of the Anishnabek Nation and the Fort William First Nation.
The race offers various participation options:
- Individual 10-mile race
- Relay race
- Adaptive and Para Athlete categories
Starting in 2026, the event features specific categories for adaptive racing, including divisions for visually impaired athletes, autonomous athletes with assistance, and wheelchair athletes. The course is noted for being fast and draws on a long tradition within the community.
Participants can also take part in the "Fire and Falls Legacy Challenge." This involves completing both this event and the Kakabeka Falls Legion Half Marathon. Runners who successfully finish both races are eligible to receive a unique commemorative challenge coin.
The event partners with local charities to support the Thunder Bay community. Limited edition apparel is available to mark the history of the race, and registration is open to runners of various abilities through individual or relay entries.
