Finish Line Frolic - Belchamps Camp
Finish Line Frolic is a traffic-free, looped trail event held at Belchamps Camp, Holyoak Lane, Hockley. The course uses a loop a shade over 5 km, with options to complete fixed distances or to run within a six-hour timed format.
Distances offered:
- 10 km
- Half marathon (4 laps, loop ~5 km)
- Marathon (8 laps, loop ~5 km)
- 6-hour timed event (as many laps as possible within 6 hours)
An aid station is positioned at the end of every lap. Runners can leave a personal bag at the aid station and access snacks such as flapjacks, fruit and nuts, plus water and squash. The event operates a cupless policy to reduce single-use plastic; participants should bring their own receptacle or may purchase a compatible cup option.
The event supports the Finish Line Fund, established in 2014 and registered as a charity in 2018 (charity number 1179170). The charity’s stated objectives include promoting running and amateur sport in East Essex and providing equipment and sponsorship to local clubs for public health and wellbeing.
Additional event details: UKA affiliation and a TRA race permit; it is a 100 Club qualifying event. There is ample on-site parking and toilets in Belchamps Park. Participants are asked to follow the indicated access route off Main Road into Poplars Avenue, then Woodside Chase and Holyoak Lane, rather than using Mount Bovers Lane.
