Event overview

The Fighter 5k takes place on 17/05/2026 at Great Massingham Airfield, PE32 2EY. The event is organised by West Norfolk Athletic Club as a grassroots, volunteer-run race and is licensed by England Athletics. The course is officially measured (course number 24/515) and a permit number is to be confirmed. The race raises money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and supports the local food bank, the Purfleet Pantry. In 2025 the event raised £500 and the organisers aim to raise £750 for 2026.

Course, entries and prizes

The course is a single lap using the airfield perimeter track and runways on a fully runable concrete surface. Chip timing is used and recce runs are not permitted because the course is on private land. Drones are not allowed and the course is not suitable for wheelchair racers. No entries are available on the day. Minimum age is 11. Entry fees shown are £17.99 (affiliated) and £19.99 (unaffiliated). Cash prizes are offered for the top three men and women: 1st £40, 2nd £20, 3rd £10. Any broken male or female course record receives a £50 bonus, which can roll over up to £250. Age group winners receive free entry to the following year and all finishers receive a sew-on military style patch and refreshments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
