Fighter 5k
The Fighter 5k is a single-lap 5 km race set at Great Massingham Airfield, using the airfield perimeter track and runways. The surface is fully run-able concrete and the course is officially measured with England Athletics permit number 30541 and course number 24/515. Chip timing provides on-the-spot results.
The event is volunteer-run and raises funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and the local Social Supermarket, The Purfleet Pantry. The 2025 event raised £500 and the organisers aim to raise £750 for 2026.
Prizes include cash awards for the first three male and female finishers (1st £40, 2nd £20, 3rd £10). A £50 bonus is offered for a new male or female course record, with rules for roll-over up to a maximum. Age-group winners in listed categories gain free entry to the following year’s race; cash prize winners are not eligible for the free entry.
The race is on private land so no recce runs are permitted and no drones are allowed. It is not suitable for wheelchair racers. Dogs may accompany spectators but not runners. All finishers receive a sew-on military-style patch and post-finish refreshments. Entries are non-refundable; transfers to another runner are permitted until 09/05/2026. Minimum entry age is 11 and no entries are accepted on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
