Fighter 5k
The Fighter 5k is a 5 kilometre road race organised by West Norfolk Athletic Club on the former RAF Great Massingham airfield. The course is a single lap that uses the perimeter track and runways and is laid out on a concrete surface. The event is officially measured to UKA standards (course number 24/515) and is a fully licensed England Athletics event. Chip timing is used to provide immediate results. The race takes place on private land, so no recce runs are permitted, and drones are not allowed. The course is not suitable for wheelchair racers. Dogs may attend as spectators but may not accompany runners. Minimum age to compete is 11 years.
Entries are handled via Total Race Timing and no entries are accepted on the day. Early bird and normal entry prices are published, with an additional administration fee per entry. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers with specified amounts for first, second and third place and a bonus for any broken course record that may roll over year to year. Age group winners receive free entry to the following year in specified categories. All finishers receive a sew on military style patch. The event raises funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and has raised £1250 so far. On site facilities include refreshments, first aid and toilets; there are no changing facilities.
