Fiery Gizzard Run: November 28, 2026
The Fiery Gizzard Run is a trail event at Foster Falls State Park in Tennessee organized by HardWin Adventures. The event offers multiple distances on the Fiery Gizzard Trail, a route that includes waterfalls, rock formations, and ridge line overlooks. Much of the route is runnable ridge line, but runners will encounter steep, technical descents into gorges that require careful footing.
Distances include:
- Marathon, out and back on the Fiery Gizzard Trail via Grundy Forest Trailhead
- Half marathon, a single traverse from Grundy Forest Trailhead to Foster Falls
- Ruck only, a 13 mile option
Aid stations are spaced farther apart than at typical events, with stretches of about 6 to 8 miles between support points; participants should plan for longer unsupported sections. The event capacity is limited to 175 runners by park officials. Race shirts and other swag are not included in the entry fee but may be added during registration. All finishers receive a custom HardWin finisher award and additional awards are given to the top male and female finishers in each distance.
Medical support is limited; organizers can provide basic first aid in the field but do not maintain a full medical staff. In the event of a rescue, runners are responsible for rescue costs. The event also features a rucking division with set weight requirements based on body weight. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
