Field Station Frenzy Trail Run & Walk 5K
Field Station Frenzy is a community running event held at Chellberg Farm inside Indiana Dunes National Park, Porter, IN. The program includes multiple short races and a main 5 km trail run and walk on scenic park trails.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5 km trail run or walk
- 1 km Kid's Fun Run, non competitive
- 500 m Tot Trot, non competitive
- Kiddie Corral free on site child care for potty trained through elementary school age
The 5 km course uses trails that include grass, mulch, dirt, and boardwalk. Participants should expect uneven surfaces and natural obstacles such as roots, rocks, slippery leaves, and fallen branches. No strollers or pets are allowed on the course. Children under nine may register for the 5 km only while accompanied by a registered parent or guardian and remain eligible for the youngest age group awards.
Registration is online only. Advanced and race day fee options are listed for each event and long sleeve tech shirts are available with some registrations guaranteeing sizes if completed before September 20. Packet pick up is available early at Extra Mile Fitness Company. Parking is in the grass lot east of Mineral Springs Road; the event starts and finishes near the paved parking lot at Chellberg Farm.
Awards include medals for all 5K finishers, finisher ribbons and race numbers for kid runs, one of a kind wooden medals and handmade plaques for overall winners, and age group awards. The event supports the Field Station Cooperative Preschool and is part of the Calumet Striders Gold Cup and Elite Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
