Fiddlers 5k, Kids Fun Run, and Family Fun Day
The Athens State University Alumni Association hosts an annual community race day at Athens State University in Athens, Alabama. The event includes a USATF certified 5K road race and a separate kids fun run for elementary ages. Proceeds will fund scholarships for new and current students and will also benefit the Nazaretian Scholarship.
The 5K is an out and back course that begins and ends at the university. The course is USATF certified with Course Number USATF AL23020JE. Awards are given by overall male and female places and by masters and age group categories, with placements listed for multiple age ranges.
The kids fun run is for ages 3 to 12 and features a mascot appearance. All youth participants receive finisher awards and a treat. Distances for the youth races are age based as listed below.
- 5K
- Ages 3 to 4: approximately 0.10 mile
- Ages 5 to 7: approximately 0.25 mile
- Ages 8 to 10: approximately 0.50 mile
- Ages 11 to 12: approximately 0.50 mile
Entry fees are specified for each event and all entry fees are non refundable. T shirts are guaranteed for registrations made before August 29, 2026. Packet pickup is scheduled at the Nazaretian House Welcome Center near Founders Circle on the day before and the morning of the event. The organizer reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event for safety or emergency reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
