Fiddlers 5k, Kids Fun Run, and Family Fun Day
The Athens State University Alumni Association presents a community event that combines a certified road race, organized kids runs, and a family activity area on the university campus and nearby historic district. The 5K is a USATF certified out and back course (Course Number: USATF AL23020JE) that begins and ends on the Athens State University grounds. The start and finish locations have been reversed from previous years; the start is in front of Sandridge Hall and the finish is near the sixth lamp post on Beaty Street.
Distances and age groups:
- 5K out and back USATF AL23020JE
- Ages 3-4, approximately 0.10 mi
- Ages 5-7, approximately 0.25 mi
- Ages 8-10, approximately 0.50 mi
- Ages 11-12, approximately 0.50 mi
The 5K awards overall male and female places and multiple age group prizes including masters and decade categories. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before and the morning of the event at the Nazaretian House Welcome Center at the entrance of Founders Circle. T shirts are guaranteed for registrations by August 15, 2026. Registration fees are listed for each race.
A family fun zone on site will offer inflatables, face painting, and hot dogs. Paid race entry is required for access to the fun zone. Proceeds support student scholarships and the Nazaretian Scholarship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
