Fiddlers 5k, Kids Fun Run, and Family Fun Day
The Athens State University Alumni Association presents an event on 2026-09-26 at Athens State University, 300 N Beaty Street, Athens, AL. The day includes a USATF certified 5K out-and-back race (Course Number USATF AL23020JE) that begins and ends on the university campus. The start and finish locations have been revised from previous years: the race will begin in front of Sandridge Hall and end at the sixth lamp post on Beaty Street.
Awards will be given for overall male and female 1st–3rd, overall masters male and female 1st–3rd (first over 40 to finish), and multiple age-group categories. Entry fees are non-refundable; the organizer may postpone or cancel the event for safety or emergency reasons and will not issue refunds in those circumstances. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations made by 2026-08-15. Packet pickup will be available at the Nazaretian House Welcome Center at the entrance of Founders Circle.
The day also includes a Kids Fun Run for ages 3 to 12 with multiple short distances and a family fun area. Kids will meet Hebrew the Bear, receive finisher awards and a treat, and may decorate their bibs on the morning of the event. The family fun zone will feature inflatables, face painting, and hot dogs; access requires a paid race entry. Proceeds will support scholarships for new and current students and the Nazaretian Scholarship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
