Fiddlers 5k, Kids Fun Run, and Fun Day
The event is hosted by the Athens State University Alumni Association and includes a community 5K, a kids fun run for ages 3 to 12, and a family fun day. Proceeds will provide scholarships for new and current students and support the Nazaretian Scholarship.
The 5K is a USATF certified out-and-back course (Course Number: USATF AL23020JE) that begins and ends at Athens State University and showcases the historical district of Athens. Awards are offered for overall male and female, masters (first over 40), and multiple age groups from 10-19 through over 70. Entry fees are non-refundable. Organizers reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event for reasons such as natural disaster or emergency and to change event details without prior notice. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations by September 10, 2026. Packet pickup is scheduled at the Nazaretian House Welcome Center at the entrance of Founders Circle on the day before and the morning of the event.
The kids fun run runs on campus and features an appearance by Hebrew the Bear. Children receive a finisher medal and a treat, and will be able to decorate their bibs on the morning of the event. The fun day includes a kids fun zone with inflatables, face painting, and hot dogs; a paid race entry is required to access the fun zone. The race start and finish locations differ from past years, beginning in front of Sandridge Hall and ending at the sixth lamp post on Beaty Street.
