Fidalgo Trail Run
Fidalgo Trail Run takes place in Deception Pass State Park with the start and finish at Bowman Bay. The event offers multiple course options and runs along forested trails, coastal headlands, and the water.
Distances
- 5 Mile
- Half marathon
- Full marathon
All distances follow a common route pattern with loops and lollipops that access Rosario, Lighthouse, and Lottie Points. The half-marathon continues around Pass Lake, crosses the Deception Pass Bridge on the pedestrian walkway, then reaches Goose Rock and an out-and-back to West Beach before returning to Bowman Bay. The full marathon completes two loops of the half-marathon course. The bridge remains open to traffic during the event and has a height of about 180ft.
Elevation gain for each course is provided by the organizer:
- 5 Mile: 1300 ft
- Half: 3300 ft
- Full: 6600 ft
Aid stations appear on the courses with volunteers, food, and hydration; locations are listed by mile for each distance. The event is cupless, so runners must carry a refillable container. Parking at Bowman Bay is limited; half-marathon participants will park off-site and use a shuttle. Packet pick-up takes place in the Bowman Bay parking area at the event tent. The event is run under a Special Use Permit from Washington State Parks.
A free Woodland Speeders kid’s race runs about 0.6 miles along the beach at Bowman Bay. Every finisher receives a handmade piece of swag produced locally using solar power. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
