Fernie Half Marathon
The Fernie Half Marathon takes place on Sunday October 4, 2026 at James White Park. The event offers three race styles including a half marathon and 5 km and 10 km run/walk options.

The trail route begins and ends in James White Park. Trails follow the Elk River, run across the foot of Mount Fernie, pass through wooded areas in Coal Creek and move through James White Park. The course includes six water stations. A new route will be announced soon.
In its 23rd year, the race is organised as a fundraiser for children's programming in Fernie; proceeds include an annual donation to Friends of the Fernie Heritage Library. Student volunteers support participants each year. Organisers note that changing COVID protocols may require postponement; if postponed registrations will be moved to the following year and refunds are not offered.
