Fernie Half Marathon : October 4, 2026

The Fernie Half Marathon takes place at James White Park and is in its 23rd year. The event is organized as a fundraiser for children's programming in Fernie; a donation is made annually to the Friends of the Fernie Heritage Library. Student volunteers support participants.

Three race styles are offered, including the half marathon and shorter run/walk options:

5 km Run/Walk
10 km Run/Walk
21 km Half Marathon

The trail route begins and ends in James White Park. Trails follow along the Elk River, across the foot of Mount Fernie, along wooded areas in Coal Creek and through James White Park. A new route will be announced soon. The course includes six water stations.

Online registration is opening soon. If changing COVID protocols require postponement, registrations will be moved to the following year and refunds are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
