Run through the Cambridgeshire Fens
The Fen Gallop is an annual running event held in Willingham, Cambridgeshire. It features chip-timed races over multiple distances on a multi-terrain course. Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 10 km (6.2 miles) multi-terrain race
- 6.5 km (4 miles) multi-terrain race
The routes consist of flat country roads, footpaths, and bridleways. The surfaces include a combination of concrete, gravel, and trails. Both the 10 km and the 4 mile courses lead runners away from the village before cutting back toward Willingham before reaching the neighboring village of Over.
All events start and finish at the Willingham recreation ground on West Fen Road. Following the conclusion of the main adult races, the event includes dedicated races for children. The timing for all participants is recorded using an electronic chip system to provide accurate results.
The event is supported by local organizations and involves a mix of paved and unpaved paths through the rural landscape. Registered participants can view results from previous years, and merchandise related to the event is available to runners. Entries are managed through an online registration platform.
