Fe for a Cure Race/Walk

Fe for a Cure is a community race and walk held in Salina to benefit patients at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center. The event raises funds for patient services and equipment; sponsors cover other costs so 100% of entry fees support cancer patients.

Three local organizations along Santa Fe Avenue coordinate the event: Salina Regional Health Center and its foundation, Meridian Media, and North Salina Community Development. The course uses historic Santa Fe Avenue and Oakdale Park in downtown Salina.

The event includes the following distances:

  • 5K (3.1 miles) race/walk on Santa Fe Avenue through Oakdale Park
  • 1-mile fun run on historic Santa Fe Avenue suitable for walkers and children

Entry fees include a T-shirt for participants. A "Couch Potato" option provides a T-shirt without participating in the race. A corporate challenge ranks businesses by participation in small, mid-size, and large categories. Chip timing is used for race results. Awards are given to the top three males and females in each age group; age groups span 9 & under through 80 & over. The 5K is USATF-certified and is one of two certified races in Salina.

Post-race activities listed by the organizer include live music, awards, food, refreshments, and family-oriented events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
