Fe for a Cure Race/Walk
Fe for a Cure is a community race and walk that raises funds for patients receiving treatment at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center. The event takes place on historic Santa Fe Avenue in downtown Salina and includes a course that passes through Oakdale Park. Organizers state that 100% of entry fees directly support cancer patients through services and equipment at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.
The event program includes two running/walking options:
- 5K (3.1 miles) race/walk on a certified course starting and finishing at Tammy Walker Cancer Center
- 1-mile fun run on Santa Fe Avenue suitable for walkers, beginner runners, and children
Early packet pick-up is scheduled for September 18 at Tammy Walker Cancer Center. The 5K is noted as a USATF-certified race in Salina, Kansas. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. A corporate challenge recognizes businesses with the most entrants, ranked by small, mid-size, and large categories.
Proceeds support cancer awareness, education, and treatment at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center and fund services such as the Appearance Center, patient emergency assistance, access to clinical trials through the Masonic Cancer Alliance, patient transportation, and overnight accommodations at Morrison House.
