FCEF Run for the Schools 5K and 1 Mile
The event takes place on September 20, 2026 at Cherry Hill Park in Falls Church, Virginia. It features a USATF certified 5K course that winds through tree-lined streets of Falls Church City. The course includes a mix of hills and flat stretches and has a water stop along the route. A separate 1 mile loop is provided for runners and walkers and this one mile is untimed.

Registration is handled online and fees are tiered by age: participants 19 and over pay $40, participants 18 and under pay $20. There are separate staff entry categories for Falls Church City Public Schools with a reduced fee. Packet pick up is available the Friday and Saturday before the event at local locations and on race morning at the race site.
Strollers are permitted on the course. Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and dogs are not allowed. All participants receive a race shirt and other promotional items.
Awards include prizes for the top male and female 5K finishers and top male and female finishers in age categories 1-8, 9-11, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80 and over. Proceeds benefit the Falls Church Education Foundation and Falls Church City Public Schools to support families, teacher training and classroom innovation.
