FATS
FATS is a trail race event on November 1, 2026 at the Forks Area Trail System in Sumter National Forest near North Augusta, SC. The event offers three distances: 50K, Half Marathon, and 10K.
The course is built from three primary loops named Great Wall, Skinny, and Brown Wave. Trails are almost entirely single track, shaded, and runnable with rolling terrain, rocks, and roots. The 50K uses the Great Wall loop twice and combines the three loops in a multi-loop sequence to reach the distance. Trail turns are marked and the trails are described as well maintained.
Aid stations are fully stocked with fluids, fuel, and volunteer support, plus separate water only drops on course. There are two primary aid stations; the first station is crossed three times and the second station once. The event is cup free and runners are asked to bring their own handheld hydration. Typical aid offerings include water, gels, soda options, snacks, fruit, salt, potatoes, salt caps, and PB&J sandwiches.
Drop bags are permitted at Aid Stations 1, 3, and 4 with name and bib number; no drop bags are allowed at Aid Station 2. Parking near the start is limited with overflow parking and parking directors on site.
For safety, pets are not permitted, trails may have other users such as mountain bikers or hikers, and distance markers appear about every half mile. A wet trail policy states the race may be moved to forest service roads or canceled with no refunds, in which case proceeds are used for trail maintenance and related local organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
