Event overview
The Father's Day 5K & 10K takes place on June 21, 2026, in Chesterton, IN (N State Rd 149 / Iron Horse Heritage Trail). The event includes two race distances:
- 5K Run
- 10K Run
The course is described as relatively flat and will be on a paved bike/trail (Iron Horse Heritage Trail / Duneland Prairie Trail). The event is part of the Race the Region series and benefits the Portage High School boys cross country team. All participants receive a finisher medal and may opt to receive a race shirt; shirt size is guaranteed for registrations completed by June 9, 2026.
Logistics and awards
Registration is online only; online registration remains open on race morning until 7:30 AM. Pre-race packet pick-up is available at Extra Mile Fitness Company in Valparaiso on the Friday and Saturday before the race. Race day packet pick-up and registration are at Imagination Glen East Soccer Fields, Iron Horse Heritage Trail, Chesterton.
Timing uses chip timing with timing mats at the start and live results via text and email. Awards are given for both distances, including top overall male and female, top masters male and female, and top three in multiple age groups (10 & under through 75 and up). The 10K has a two-hour time limit. Unclaimed awards may be collected at Extra Mile Fitness Co. within 14 days after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
