Event

Fat Dog Backyard Ultra takes place on March 14, 2026 in Abbotsford, British Columbia, with the start/finish area staged at Abbotsford Exhibition Park. Registration for 2026 is sold out and the field is capped at 150 participants.

Format

The race follows the certified Backyard Ultra format. Participants complete a loop of 6.7056 km (4.167 miles) every hour, on the hour, and continue until they either fail to finish a lap within the allotted time or choose not to start the next lap. The last person remaining on course is declared the winner; all other competitors are recorded as DNF. As a Backyard Ultra Bronze Ticket event, performances can earn entry opportunities into BC Silver Ticket events or placement on the At Large List for consideration for Team Canada at the 2026 National Satellite Championships.

Course and practical information

The loop uses the parking area at Abbotsford Exhibition Park and connects to the Discovery Trail and trails around Clearbrook Park. The surface mix includes paved, hard-packed gravel and dirt; there is no running on roads. The course will be open to the public on race day. Registration fee is $175 CAD plus GST and processing fee. Minimum age is 18 on race day; there are no refunds, transfers, deferrals, or waitlists. Prizing is cash-based and varies by number of laps completed.
