The Fast & The Furriest
The Fast & The Furriest is a pet-focused community event on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Brown Square Park in Rochester, New York. The event includes road races, a dog walk, a free vaccination clinic, and a pet festival located across from Rochester Animal Services at 184 Verona Street. Free parking is available in the Kodak / Carestream Lot D at Brown Street and Verona Street, with access from Oak Street; donations are appreciated. Road closures will occur in the Brown Square Park area and along the race routes.
Race and walk options include:
- 10K through the city and along the Genesee River
- 5K through the city and along the Genesee River
- 1K Kids Race around the block back to the park
- Dog walk one-mile stroll through downtown near the shelter
The pet festival features live music, food trucks, sponsor giveaways, vendors, pet contests, local pet organizations, and a variety of activities. The vaccination clinic offers rabies and DAPP vaccines and microchipping on a first come, first serve basis. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Fleet Feet the Armory (155 Culver Rd) and on the morning of the event at 184 Verona St. Participants who register before May 23 are guaranteed a t-shirt; registrations after that date may receive a shirt if available. Virtual participation options exist for the 5K, 10K, and dog walk. The event does not offer refunds.
Funds raised support Verona Street Animal Society and Rochester Animal Services, including shelter care, spay/neuter and adoption programs, and pet resources for under-served communities.
