The Fast & The Furriest
The Fast & The Furriest is the 20th annual community pet event scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Brown Square Park in Rochester, New York. The event features timed road races, a dog walk, a pet festival, a free vaccination clinic, and fundraising activities that support local animal services.
Racing options include a 10K and a 5K, and a new 1K Furry Scurry kids race. The dog walk covers about one mile through downtown near the shelter. Course routing includes a scenic section along the Genesee River. Virtual participation is available for the 5K, 10K, and dog walk; virtual registrants will receive mailed event items.
The pet festival component includes live music, food trucks, sponsor giveaways, vendors, pet contests, local pet organizations, and an adoptable dog showcase. The vaccination clinic offers rabies and DAPP vaccines and microchipping on a first come first serve basis. Packet pick up locations are provided before and at the event. Registrations completed before May 23 are guaranteed a shirt; later registrants may receive a shirt if available. The event does not offer refunds.
Race awards include store vouchers to Fleet Feet for overall and masters winners and age group placings. Fundraising pages and team fundraising options are part of the event; funds support shelter care, adoption and spay or neuter programs, lost and found efforts, and access to pet resources in under served communities.
There will be road closures in the Brown Square Park area and along the race routes; alternate routes are available and parking is provided in the Kodak Carestream Lot D near Brown and Verona Street with access from Oak Street. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
