Farewell See York Run York Challenge
The Farewell See York Run York Challenge is a 7 hour timed event taking place at the York Knavesmire. This lapped event follows the Turpin Challenge route, with each lap measuring approximately 4.37 miles on undulating, multi-terrain ground. The format allows participants to determine their own distance by completing as many laps as they choose within the time limit.
Participants can achieve various milestones based on the number of laps completed. One lap serves as a short distance option, while three laps equate to a half marathon, and six laps reach a marathon distance. Runners must complete their final lap within the strict 7 hour cutoff to have it included in their total. All participants receive a bespoke medal and a goody bag regardless of the distance covered.
The event hub is located at the Hamilton Panther's Club House, which provides access to toilets, changing areas, and showers. Food and hot drinks are available for purchase at the site. This is a cupless event, requiring runners to bring their own bottles or cups for refills of water, squash, or soda at the aid station. The station also provides sweets, fruit, and savoury snacks.
Available distances and formats include:
- 7 hour timed challenge (laps of 4.37 miles)
- 1 mile family fun run (grass loop)
The family fun run takes place before the main challenge on a grass course. Registration and bib collection are held on-site on the morning of the event. Free parking is available for participants along Knavesmire Road and Racecourse Road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
