Fan y Big Race
The Fan y Big Race is scheduled for Saturday 10 July 2027 in Llanfrynach, near Brecon. The race start and finish are in the same field; parking is available along the north side of that field. Competitors are asked not to park in the village.
The course is a mountain route of 16.5 kilometres (10.3 miles) with 670 metres of ascent. In 2027 the route will use the traditional anti clockwise direction, with a checkpoint at the summit of Fan y Big. The event has a WFRA classification of BM, indicating that experience and navigational skills are required. There is a 75 minute summit cut off on the anti clockwise route, and finish timing closes after 160 minutes.
Entries are limited to 150. The published entry fee is £15. Registration is held in the race field rather than the village hall; pre entered runners collect wristbands during registration and runners who do not register will not be permitted to start.
Required kit includes full windproof body cover, a map, compass and whistle. Dogs are not allowed. The use of music or sound equipment that restricts hearing or plays audible music for others is prohibited. The race has an over 18 age limit. Prize categories include overall and age category awards for men and women and club team prizes. Junior races may be held. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
