Falling Water Trail Marathon / Half Marathon
The event offers a trail marathon (approximately 42.2 km) and a trail half marathon (approximately 21 km) starting and finishing at the Beaver Valley Ski Club in Eugenia, ON. Most of the route follows the Main Trail of the Bruce Trail with some crossover sections; crossover trails use blue blazes and the main route uses white blazes. Orange flags and ribbons will supplement the permanent blazes. Runners must understand how to follow blazes.
The course is technical: rocky and rooty single track, hundreds of rolling sections and several long steep climbs, waterfalls, and notable viewpoints. The marathon features nearly 1600 m of elevation gain and 1600 m of loss; the half marathon has close to 1000 m of gain. Poles are permitted. Aid stations are spaced farther apart than on many events due to limited access.
The marathon is not a Boston Marathon qualifier. Each distance is limited to 100 participants and there is no official waitlist. The marathon cut-off is 11 hours and the half marathon cut-off is 5.5 hours, with rolling cutoffs at aid stations. The event is cup-less; participants need a collapsible cup or bottle. A portion of each registration fee is donated to the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
