Event overview

The Devil's Key 2026 is a trail running event on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Devil's Glen Country Club, Simcoe County Road 124, Duntroon, Ontario. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and takes place primarily on the Bruce Trail with some side-trail sections marked with blue blazes. The organizer states that $20 from each registration will be donated to the Blue Mountains Bruce Trail Club.

Distances

  • 66.6 km - The Beast; close to 6000 ft cumulative climbing.
  • 33.3 km - The Half Beast; around 2500 ft elevation gain.
  • 16.66 km - The Mini Beast; close to 1200 ft elevation gain.

Course and cut-offs

The course includes multiple major climbs, steep descents, a climb to the Devil's Glen ski hill, sections beside the Mad River, and passage through the "keyhole" on the Keyhole Side Trail (there is a longer alternate route). The 66.6 km course reaches the highest point of the Bruce Trail. Cut-off times are published for each distance (for example 12.5 hours for the 66.6 km event).

Logistics, aid and kit

GPX files are provided for each distance. Aid stations are placed less than 10 km apart and are cup-less; participants must carry a collapsible cup or bottle. The race kit includes a bib, sticker, shirt, a skeleton key that must be carried and shown during the race, and a finisher medal and photos for finishers. The organizer allows bib transfers and offers a race credit if cancellation occurs more than 30 days before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
