The Devil's Key 2026
The event takes place on August 22, 2026 at Devil's Glen Country Club in Duntroon, Ontario. It is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and is routed mainly on the Bruce Trail with some short side trail sections marked by blue blazes.
Distances offered:
- 66.6 km The Beast, about 6000 feet cumulative climbing and reaches the Bruce Trail highest point
- 33.3 km Half Beast, about 2500 feet elevation, two major climbs and descents
- 16.66 km Mini Beast, about 1200 feet elevation, one major early climb
Course highlights include the Devil's Glen ski hill climb, crawling through the Keyhole side trail or taking a longer bypass, running beside the Mad River, and climbs through Pretty River Valley Provincial Park (66.6 km only). Aid stations are spaced less than 10 km apart and provide electrolyte drinks, salty and sweet snacks, pickles, pb and j, gels and more. The event is cupless so participants must carry a collapsible cup or bottle.
All participants receive a Skeleton Key that must be carried and shown during the race; losing the key ends a competitor's race. GPX files are available for each course. The organizer notes partnerships for on site shoe demos and gels supplied in race kits by a local nutrition company.
