The Devil's Key 2026
The event takes place on the Bruce Trail with short sections on blue-blazed side trails near Devil's Glen Country Club in Duntroon, Ontario. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and $20 from each registration goes to the Blue Mountains Bruce Trail Club.
Distances offered:
- 66.6 km with close to 6000 feet of cumulative climbing.
- 33.3 km with around 2500 feet of elevation gain.
- 16.66 km with about 1200 feet of elevation gain.
The courses include multiple major climbs, steep technical descents, and rocky terrain. Features include a climb to the top of the Devil's Glen ski hill, running beside the Mad River, and access to the highest point on the Bruce Trail on the longest course. One section requires literally crawling through the "keyhole" on the Keyhole Side Trail; a longer bypass route is available.
GPX files are provided for each course. Aid stations are spaced less than 10 km apart and will supply electrolyte drinks, salty and sweet snacks, pickles, and pb and j. The event is cup-less so participants must carry a collapsible cup or bottle. THN Labs provides gels in race kits and at aid stations; ingredients listed are maple syrup, tahini, sea salt, and rowanberry extract. La Sportiva will attend with a demo shoe fleet and a giveaway of two pairs.
Race kits include a bib, sticker, shirt, a skeleton key that must be carried and shown during the race, and a finisher medal. The organizer's refund policy offers a 100% race credit for cancellations at least 30 days before the event; bib transfers are allowed.
