About the race
The Fall Foliage Adventure Race is scheduled for September 25, 2027, in Kamas, Utah, in the Unita-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The event is presented as a beginner to intermediate level adventure race with an expected duration of two to four hours. Entrants may race solo or form teams to combine hiking, biking and navigation to reach checkpoints using a provided map and basic rules.
Points are awarded at checkpoints and the team with the most points within the allotted time wins. Course difficulty is rated 2 to 5 on a scale of 1 to 10; about 80 percent of the course is aimed at families and newer racers while 20 percent contains optional checkpoints intended for more advanced racers. Mandatory equipment includes enough food and water for the event, a water supply, a mountain or gravel bike with helmet, a fully charged cell phone carried in a dry bag, and outside maps are allowed. Primitive and car camping are available at the forest. Post race provisions include cold beverages and snacks, and awards are given to overall winners.
Registration fees vary by entry type and date: soloists pay $75 until June 1 and $85 until registration closes on September 20; teams of two to four pay $70 per person until June 1 and $80 per person until September 20. All racers must purchase race insurance on race day for a $10 fee. The organizer issues future race credit for cancellations according to a tiered refund policy.
