Fall Equinox Events
The Fall Equinox features multiple race distances located in the Poudre River Canyon near Fort Collins, Colorado. Participants can choose between several in-person and virtual options held in September. The course highlights include views of the Cache la Poudre, which is the only designated Wild and Scenic River in Colorado.
The event offers the following race distances:
- Marathon (26.2 miles): This point-to-point course is limited to 300 participants. It begins with five miles of hilly terrain through the Buckhorn Canyon before transitioning into approximately 21 miles of downhill running within the Poudre River Canyon.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles): This race starts at the Mishawaka Amphitheater. The downhill route follows the river and is used by participants attempting personal records or completing their first half marathon.
- 5 Miles: A unique distance designed for runners and walkers. This shorter course allows participants to reach the finish area earlier than marathon or half marathon runners.
- Virtual Half Marathon: A remote participation option for the 13.1 mile distance.
- Virtual 5 Mile: A remote participation option for the 5 mile distance.
The in-person routes conclude in a field setting that features music and beer. The course through the canyons provides views of the local scenery during the autumn season. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
