16th Annual Faithful Friends 5K & Mutt Mile
The Faithful Friends 5K and Mutt Mile is a dog-friendly fundraising event held at Bellevue State Park in Wilmington, Delaware. This annual event supports the Faithful Friends Animal Society and features a cross-country course for the main race alongside a shorter walking option. The event takes place rain or shine.
Participants can choose from the following event categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Mutt Mile
The 5K course is a timed cross-country route, while the Mutt Mile serves as a more leisurely walking alternative. All 5K registrants receive a race shirt, and those participating in the Mutt Mile receive a bandana. The event includes an awards ceremony with categories for overall male and female winners, masters, and age groups ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over. Notably, awards are also presented to the top three finishing dogs.
Beyond the races, the event features a festival atmosphere with several activities located near the Bellevue State Park Band Shell. Attendees can find food trucks, various vendors, and a pup kissing booth. There is also a meet and greet with adoptable dogs from the animal society. A pet costume contest is held after the awards ceremony, where participants parade their pets across the stage for a chance to win prizes based on crowd voting.
