Fairgrounds 5k, Mile & Market
The event takes place on 08/30/2026 at the Cumberland Fairgrounds in Cumberland Center, Maine. It combines timed races on the horse track with a market and music. Registration benefits MOFGA, Cumberland County 4H Leader's Association and Valor Youth Program.
Race offerings include:
- 1 mile Elite Mile, two laps on the horse track.
- 1 mile Open Mile for adults 18 plus, two laps on the horse track.
- 1 mile Youth Mile for ages 10 to 17, two laps on the horse track.
- 200 meter Kids gallop in front of the grandstand.
- 5k Open 5k around the fairgrounds finishing on the horse track.
The Elite Mile is sponsored by the Fairgrounds event; prize payouts are listed for the top three overall and the top three women as $400, $250 and $100. The Open Mile is sanctioned as the USATF Maine Mile Championship; listed payouts for the top three men and women overall are $100, $75 and $50, and age category medals will be awarded. The Elite Mile notes that USATF membership is not needed to accept prize money.
