Event Overview
The Fairfield Police Sunset 5K is a charity running and walking event held in Fairfield, Connecticut. All proceeds are donated to the Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Fund and the Fairfield Police Foundation. The event has a participant limit of 1000 people.
Distances
Participants can choose from two events.
- Fairfield Police Sunset 5K Run: A chip-timed 5K (3.1-mile) run. Runners and walkers are both welcome in this event.
- Fairfield Police Sunset .8 Mile Walk: An untimed 0.8-mile walk. This is a non-competitive event with no awards.
Event Details
The event starts and finishes at Jennings Beach. The 5K course is described as scenic and flat. Both the 5K run and the 0.8-mile walk start together at the same time and location before splitting onto separate routes.
Registration includes a t-shirt and access to post-event amenities, including food and non-alcoholic drinks. There will also be food trucks and a variety of adult beverages for those 21 and over with ID. Parking is available at Jennings Beach, and no beach sticker is required for race participants.
There are no race day registrations if the event sells out.
Awards and Timing
Awards for the 5K are based on chip/net time. The overall male and female champions receive trophies and gift cards. Additional age group awards are given. All awards must be picked up in person; none will be mailed.
Additional Information
Early bib and shirt pickup is available on specific dates at Marathon Sports on Post Rd in Fairfield. A separate $15 food truck ticket is required for spectators, friends, and family who are not registered participants to access food and drinks.
