Fairfield Police Sunset 5K
The Fairfield Police Sunset 5K is a community fundraising event held in the Jennings Beach area of Fairfield, Connecticut. The event offers a neighborhood course that starts on Fairfield Beach Road and finishes near the Jennings Beach parking lot. The course is described as flat and scenic and includes road safety provided by local law enforcement and volunteers.
Distances offered:
- 3.1 miles (5K), computer chip timed, eligible for age group and overall awards
- 0.8 miles untimed walk, separate course, no awards
The 5K uses computer chipped bibs and awards are based on net time; participants must complete the full course to be eligible for awards. Registration is limited to 1,000 participants and shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations submitted by mid-June; after that shirts are available as supplies last. Paid entries include a participant shirt, post-event food and fluids, and access to on-site amenities. Non-registered spectators who want food must purchase a separate food truck ticket.
Proceeds are donated to the Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Fund and the Fairfield Police Foundation. The event also collects new white sock donations for Nourish Bridgeport. Parking is available in the Jennings Beach lot and non-resident participants are not required to display a beach sticker. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
