Fair Oaks Chicken Run 2026
The Fair Oaks Chicken Run is a long-standing community event held in Fair Oaks, California. Celebrating its 44th year in 2026, the race is part of the RunSac Race Series and supports the San Juan Education Foundation. The event features multiple distance options to accommodate different types of participants, including competitive runners and families.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 Mile Chicken Run
- 2 Mile Rooster Ramble Run/Walk
- 1/4 Mile and 1/2 Mile Chicken Chase Kids Race
The 5 Mile course is a hybrid route consisting of half paved roads and half dirt trails. It starts in the Old Fair Oaks neighborhood and continues through a loop in Sailor Bar. This route includes four specific hills known as Grand Daddy Hill, Hernia Hill, The Beast, and Last Gasp. The 2 Mile Rooster Ramble remains entirely on paved roads throughout the Old Fair Oaks area.
Registered participants in the 5-mile and 2-mile events receive a tri-blend tee, a finisher medal, and access to free photos. A root beer float is also provided to finishers. The event occurs annually in May, with packet pickup available both the day before the race and on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
