Eye of the Dragon 10K & Tail of the Lizard 2 Mile : overview
The event takes place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Melbourne, FL at the Eau Gallie Civic Center (1551 Highland Ave). The program includes the following race options:
- 10K
- 2 Mile
- Slay the Beast Challenge (combined 10K and 2 Mile; limited spots)
The 10K is a USATF certified road course (USATF Certified Course #FL22006JK) and serves as the 2026 RRCA Southern Region 10K Championship. The 10K course includes an out-and-back section over the Eau Gallie Causeway and the Indian River. The race benefits the SCR Christian Lake Memorial Student Scholarship Fund and is part of the Space Coast Runners Runner of the Year series.
Event details and logistics
The Slay the Beast Challenge is in its 11th year; finishers of both races receive three medals. Challenge entries are limited to 440 participants and top finishers receive awards. The event is presented by Power of Pizza Charities. A free dragon race shirt is guaranteed with paid early registration. Activities listed include a dragon dance pre-race and post-race refreshments. The event is held rain or shine; no refunds are issued and no dogs are allowed.
