Event overview
The Eye of the Dragon 10K & Tail of the Lizard 2 Mile takes place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Eau Gallie Civic Center, 1551 Highland Ave, Melbourne, FL 32935. This is the 38th running and is race number 7 in the Space Coast Runners Runner of the Year series. The event is presented by Power of Pizza Charities and benefits the SCR Christian Lake Memorial Student Scholarship Fund. The 10K serves as the 2026 RRCA Southern Region 10K Championship and the 2 Mile serves as the RRCA Florida State 2 Mile Championship.

Race details
The 10K is a USATF certified road course (certification FL22006JK) that includes an out-and-back over the Eau Gallie Causeway and the Indian River. The Slay the Beast Challenge is in its 11th year, limited to 440 entries; finish both races to receive three medals and the top three in the challenge receive Dragon swords. A free dragon race shirt is guaranteed with paid early registration. There will be a dragon dance pre-race and post-race refreshments and food. The event is rain or shine, with no refunds and no dogs allowed.
Logistics and awards
Early packet pickup is available at Running Zone, 3696 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne, on February 13 and February 14. Awards include top three overall male and female in each race, masters (40+), grand masters (50+), senior grand masters (60+), top three in each age group, team competitions (minimum five members; co-ed teams must include one person of the opposite sex), and RRCA Southern Region Championship categories for the 10K.
