Eyam Half Marathon
The Eyam Half Marathon is a road race held in the historic village of Eyam, located in the Hope Valley within the Peak District. Often referred to as the Rat Race, the course provides runners with views across five counties. The route is characterized by significant elevation changes, totaling over 1,500 feet of ascent throughout the distance.
The event features the following options:
- Half Marathon race for runners aged 18 and older.
- Walkers category with 50 available places.
The race starts and finishes in Eyam. The first two miles consist of a climb of over 400 feet before the course levels off for approximately three miles while passing through the hamlets of Bretton and Abney. Participants then experience an 800 foot descent over 4.5 miles toward Hathersage. This is followed by a two mile climb of 800 feet, leading into the final section which concludes with a 400 foot descent back into the village.
Participants have the choice between receiving a finishers T-shirt or opting to have a tree planted. Registration is open to both UKA members and non-members. Walkers are permitted to start earlier than the main running group and participate at their own risk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
