Eyam Half Marathon
The Eyam Half Marathon is a road race held in the Peak District, starting and finishing in the historic village of Eyam. The course is characterized by significant elevation changes, totaling over 1,500ft of total ascent. The route provides participants with views across five counties as they navigate the rural landscape.
The race follows a hilly path through several local landmarks. Participants encounter a climb of over 400 feet within the first two miles before the terrain levels off briefly through the hamlets of Bretton and Abney. This is followed by a long descent of 800 feet over 4.5 miles toward Hathersage. The route then introduces a steep 800ft climb over a two-mile section before a final 400ft descent back into the village.
Distances and categories available include:
- 21.1 km (Half Marathon)
- 21.1 km (Walkers)
The event includes a limited number of 50 places specifically for walkers. All participants who complete the course are offered a choice between a finishers T-shirt or having a tree planted on their behalf. Registration is open to individuals aged 18 or older. The event takes place in the Hope Valley region, with the start and finish lines located within Eyam. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
