Eyam Half Marathon
The Eyam Half Marathon is a road race held in the historic village of Eyam, located in the Hope Valley region of the Peak District. The course features a significant landscape variety, involving over 1,500 feet of total ascent. Participants encounter views across five different counties as they navigate the route.
The event offers two primary categories for participants:
- 21.1 km (Half Marathon)
- 21.1 km (Walkers category)
The race starts with an immediate climb of over 400 feet within the first two miles. The terrain then levels off for approximately three miles as the path passes through the hamlets of Bretton and Abney. This is followed by an 800-foot descent over a 4.5-mile stretch heading towards Hathersage. Following the descent, the course includes an 800-foot climb over a two-mile section before the final phase of the race, which concludes with a 400-foot descent back into Eyam.
Registration is open to individuals aged 18 or older. While the main event is for runners, there are 50 dedicated places available for walkers. All finishers are provided with a choice between receiving a commemorative t-shirt or having a tree planted on their behalf. The event is scheduled for May and utilizes an online entry system.
