Race Overview

The Eyam Half Marathon is a road running event situated in the Peak District, starting and finishing in the historic village of Eyam in Hope Valley. The course features a total ascent of over 1,500 feet and provides views across five different counties.

The event includes two distinct categories:

  • 21.1 km (Half Marathon)
  • 21.1 km (Walking category)

The route begins with a climb of over 400 feet within the first two miles. The course then levels off for approximately three miles as it passes through the hamlets of Bretton and Abney. Following this section, participants face an 800-foot descent over 4.5 miles toward Hathersage. The route then includes an 800-foot climb over a two-mile stretch before concluding with a final 400-foot descent back into Eyam.

Event Participation

The event is open to participants aged 18 and older. While Primarily a running race, 50 places are reserved specifically for walkers. Walkers participate at their own risk and are expected to begin their journey earlier than the main field. All finishers are offered a choice between receiving an event t-shirt or having a tree planted on their behalf. Registration is available for both members of UK Athletics and non-members.
