The event offers multiple distances that follow sections of the South West Coast Path along the North and Exmoor coasts. Races are run as self navigation with GPS tracking provided. Several distances include transport to the start from nearby towns.
The 110 mile course records nearly 6,000 m of elevation gain and requires a previous 50 km finish for entry. The route passes Hartland Quay and Hartland Point, continues past Clovelly and Westward Ho!, then runs around the Torridge and Taw estuaries to Barnstaple. The 114 km course includes Braunton Burrows, Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Baggy Point, Woolacombe Sands, Morte Point, Bull Point lighthouse, Lee Bay and Ilfracombe, with the halfway point at Combe Martin where several distances join.
The Exmoor Coast 58 km starts at Combe Martin and finishes in Minehead, traversing the length of Exmoor National Park and coastal woodland, and passing notable high points such as Culbone Hill (433 m) and Great Hangman (244 m).
Classification and points differ by distance. The 110 mile event carries 6 ITRA points and a 100 mile UTMB index, the 114 km event carries 4 ITRA points and a 100 km UTMB index, and the 58 km carries 3 ITRA points and a 50 km UTMB index.
