Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run

The Autism Society of Maryland (AUSOM) presents the Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run on October 3, 2026 at Centennial Park, Ellicott City, MD (10000 Clarksville Pike, Route 108). The event marks AUSOM's 20th year hosting this community event and aims to raise funds for local programs and services.

Event options include:

  • 5K Run: timed 5K with awards for male, female and nonbinary finishers
  • 4K Walk: noncompetitive walk around Centennial Lake
  • 1K Stroll: shorter walk for participants seeking a brief route

The event village and resource fair will feature staff, sponsors, exhibitors and vendors. Family-focused activities listed for the day include an inflatable obstacle course, roving performers, face painters, bubble artists and costumed characters. A mobile clinic hosted by Giant Food Pharmacy will offer vaccine services on site.

Funds raised support AUSOM’s free programs and services, such as support groups, education, advocacy, social events, and referral services. AUSOM reported a local Autism community of more than 18,000 people and has expanded its service area to include Montgomery and Anne Arundel counties as of October 2023.

Volunteers, fundraisers and sponsors participate in various roles. AUSOM reserves the right to convert the event to an all-virtual format if needed for health and safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
