Evan Stowers Memorial 5k Trail Run
The Evan Stowers Memorial event takes place in Little Creek Park in South Charleston, West Virginia. This memorial event honors a former local cross country runner and supports the WV Kids Cancer Crusaders. The in-person race has a combined participant limit of 200 people.
The 5k route consists of a moderate trail run featuring rolling, single-track sections and one steep climb. The course concludes with a finish on the road. The walking event follows an out-and-back route strictly on the road surface. Professional timing is provided for the participants.
The available distances include:
- 5k (3.1 miles) trail run
- 2 mile walk
- 5k virtual run
Handmade coffee mugs are presented as awards to the top overall male and female runners, as well as the top two finishers in several age categories ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over. Awards are also provided for the first two walkers to finish. The first 100 registered participants receive a custom drawstring bag. Parking at the park location is limited, and carpooling is suggested by the organizers.
The event also features a raffle with tickets available for purchase on-site. Packet pickup is conducted at the park on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
