Estes Park's Backyard Ultra
The event is a Backyard Ultra format. In this format, participants must complete a fixed-distance loop within one hour. After each loop, they start a new one at the top of the next hour. This repeats until only one runner can complete a loop. That runner is declared the winner and the only finisher; all others receive a DNF.
The loop is run on a paved bike trail around Lake Estes, starting clockwise and switching direction every 12 hours. Each loop, or "yard," is 4.252 miles with 150 feet of elevation gain. The event start time is in the afternoon. The venue is at 380 Community Dr in Estes Park, Colorado, at an elevation of 7,522 feet.
All participants receive a custom Fractel hat, access to a stocked aid station, a space in the athlete village, and a special award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
