Rocky Mountain Half Marathon & 5K : Estes Park, Colorado
The event takes place in Estes Park near Rocky Mountain National Park and uses paved loops that start and finish by the lake at the fairgrounds. The weekend includes two primary race distances:
- 13.1 miles : half marathon, paved road loop
- 5K : loop around Lake Estes, paved
The half marathon route runs counterclockwise around Lake Estes, crosses under Big Thompson Avenue, and includes a steady climb up Dry Gulch for about three miles followed by rolling, mostly downhill terrain through Devil’s Gulch. The course passes MacGregor Avenue, Wonderview, and Steamer Parkway before returning through the tunnel and finishing with a final loop around the lake. The half marathon features multiple aid stations along the route; the 5K includes one aid station. Both courses are held on paved roads with notable mountain scenery.
Event logistics include an expo and bib pickup at Stanley Park Ball Field in Estes Park on the Friday of race weekend. There are three designated parking areas near the fairgrounds and a marked runner drop-off area on Manford Avenue. The event uses a cup-free aid station system; runners may bring a reusable cup or a personal hydration system. Place medals are awarded to top finishers in overall and age-group categories, and all finishers receive a finisher medal. Race photos are provided by FinisherPix and are available after the event.
