Rocky Mountain Half Marathon, Estes Park CO
The Rocky Mountain weekend in Estes Park, Colorado features a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 5K on paved loop courses near Lake Estes and the fairgrounds, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. The half marathon follows a counterclockwise route around the lake, includes a steady climb up Dry Gulch of about three miles, rolling downhill sections through Devil’s Gulch, flat stretches on MacGregor Avenue, and winding segments through Wonderview and Steamer Parkway before returning to the lake.
Course details include an elevation change of about +780 ft and -775 ft for the half marathon, a 4 hour course limit, and five aid stations on the half course. The 5K runs around Lake Estes with an aggressive early climb, one aid station, and mostly flat terrain after the first miles.
Event logistics note an expo and bib pickup at Stanley Park Ball Field in Estes Park, multiple designated parking areas near the fairgrounds, and wheelchair and stroller accessibility. The event uses a cup free, low waste aid station system; runners may bring a lightweight reusable cup or personal hydration system. Awards include place medals for top finishers across overall and masters categories, age group place medals, and finisher medals for everyone. The Elk Double option pairs the 5K and half marathon with combined swag and separate finisher medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
