Estes Park Marathon and weekend events
The Estes Park race weekend in Estes Park, Colorado, comprises a full marathon, a half marathon, the Longs Peak 5 Miler, the Estes Trail Descent (7.75 miles), and a kids festival with youth races. The half marathon is part of the Colorado Mountain Half Marathon Series. Forbes Magazine ranked the half marathon among the top seven scenic half marathons in the USA, and the event has been featured in Runner’s World Magazine.
The Marathon and Half Marathon start from the Dao House area on CO Highway 7. Organizers provide shuttle buses from the Estes Park High School parking lot to the Dao House start area; private vehicles are not allowed onto Dao House property. Start areas have portable restrooms and no gear drop service. Aid and water stations are placed at about two mile intervals; beginning at mile 6, aid stations offer gels, Gatorade, and water. Porta potties are available at the Dao House and at all aid stations, and public restrooms are located around the Lake Estes trail.
All finishers receive a finisher medal; marathon finishers are emailed a finisher certificate. Age group awards are given in decade-based categories with a masters category for runners 40 and older. The Estes Trail Descent is limited to 40 entries. The weekend also features family-oriented activities, games, and kids runs for young participants.
