Event Overview
The Essex AA and Suffolk AA County Road Relays is a combined county championship event for 2026. It will be held at Colchester Sports Park, Northern Gateway. The event features multiple relay categories for junior, senior, and veteran athletes.
Age Categories and Race Format
There are 14 relay race categories:
- Under 13 Girls
- Under 15 Girls
- Under 17 Girls
- Under 13 Boys
- Under 15 Boys
- Under 17 Boys
- Open Women
- FV40 Women
- FV50 Women
- FV60 Women
- MV40 Men
- MV50 Men
- MV60 Men
- Open Men
All categories are contested by teams of three runners, except for the Open Men category, which uses teams of four. An Under 11 2k road race is also scheduled to take place before the relays.
Registration and Rules
Team entries are handled by team captains. Entry requires submitting a list of potential runners' names, EA numbers, and dates of birth before race day for county qualification checks. All team members must be EA registered for a team to be a scoring team in the Essex championships. A runner may only compete for one scoring team in the championship. Team captains must confirm final team members and running order via a supplied online form within 48 hours after the event.
Practical Information
The event uses chip timing for results. Entry is managed through a team ticket system, where one ticket purchases entry for a full team. The price per team is £30, except for the Open Men category, which is £40 per team. The entry deadline for Essex teams is 23:59 on Sunday, 15th March.
