Essex 20
The Essex 20 is held annually in March at Debden Airfield, Carver Barracks, Water Lane, Wimbish, Saffron Walden CB10 2YA. The event is a 20 mile race run on a five‑lap course set on a disused airfield.
The course uses tarmac surfaces and is described as flat with no sharp corners. Surrounding tree cover often reduces wind on the circuit. The layout is used by runners aiming for personal bests as well as by recreational participants.
The event incorporates the Inter‑counties 20 mile road race championships and also hosts the Essex County Road Running Championships; athletes eligible for the county championships should use the separate entry route for that competition. The listed entry price is £32.
The organiser is Active Training World (ATW). ATW’s published policy states there are no refunds or transfers to another person, but entries may be transferred to any future ATW event without proof, with transfers permitted up to 48 hours before the original event date.
