Course and location

The race is based at Debden Airfield, Carver Barracks, Water Lane, Wimbish, Saffron Walden CB10 2YA. The course uses the disused airfield surface and is described as flat tarmac with no sharp corners. Surrounding tree cover is reported to make for relatively still wind conditions on most days. Ample parking is available at the venue for a £3 parking fee.

Championships, eligibility and policies

The event incorporates the Inter-counties 20 mile road race championships and also serves as the Essex County Road Running Championships. To enter the County Championship race, entrants must provide an England Athletics affiliation number valid for the current affiliation year and the name of their England Athletics affiliated running club. A password is required to book County Championship places and must be obtained via a running club or the county race secretary. ATW does not offer refunds or transfers to another person, but entries can be transferred to a future ATW event up to 48 hours before the event.
