Espresso Mile p/b Chain & Spoke
The Espresso Mile p/b Chain & Spoke is a running and walking event held in Des Moines, Iowa. The race is held in conjunction with the Rip the Aves bike races, which take place throughout the day along Ingersoll Avenue.
The course features a variety of terrain within a short distance. Participants begin with a downhill section on High Street leading toward 24th Street. After making two right turns, the field moves onto Ingersoll Avenue for a long, flat straightaway. The route then includes a right turn up the 28th Street hill. Following this climb, participants encounter another downhill section on High Street before finishing with two final right turns and a sprint to the finish line.
The event offers the following distance:
- 1 Mile Race/Walk
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. The first-place finishers receive $200, second-place $100, and third-place $50. Packet pickup is located at the corner of 28th Street and Ingersoll Avenue, a short walk from the starting line on High Street. This event is a member of the Central Iowa Race League.
