Erie Marathon
The Erie Marathon takes place on Presque Isle State Park in Erie, Pennsylvania. The race uses the Erie Runners Club Beach 1 Pavilion area as the start and finish. The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The course is unusually flat for a marathon, with less than a 250 foot total change in elevation. The running surface is mostly asphalt with roughly one third concrete; many sections have a grass strip beside the paved surface. Runners will encounter both shaded and sunny sections along the route. The course is a Boston qualifying route.
Support includes water stops about a mile apart offering water and lemon lime Gatorade, with a porta-potty located near each stop. Race tracking is available through RaceJoy and contracted pace groups are provided by marathonpacing.com. The event has a six hour time limit; participants who do not maintain approximately a 14 minute per mile pace may be required to finish on the all-purpose trail and can be moved earlier at the direction of park rangers.
Parking for participants and spectators is managed by the park permit and is located at Waldameer Park or the Ridge Center; attendees must walk about 0.6 miles from parking to the start. Spectators are not permitted on roadways and may be fined if found on any roadway. There are no food vendors or drink machines inside the park. The event is all-volunteer and has a participant cap of 2000. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers, and event insurance is offered separately.
