End the Silence 5K/Walk
The Shelby County Suicide Prevention Coalition hosts the End the Silence 5K/Walk on May 9, 2026, at 725 Lee Blvd in Shelbyville, Indiana. The event invites veterans, active duty service members, military families, and the broader community to take part in an activity centered on suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and community support.
Participants may walk in honor of their service, in memory of fellow service members, or in support of those currently navigating mental health challenges. The event recognizes that many veterans carry invisible burdens and aims to provide an opportunity for connection, reduce stigma, and promote a culture in which reaching out for help is seen as a sign of strength.
The event includes a 5K course of 3.1 Miles. Day of registration is available and a waiver is required. A registration fee of $20.00 is listed. Local food trucks will be on site, with participating vendors donating a portion of their proceeds to support ongoing suicide prevention efforts in Shelby County. Community sponsorships are available to help ensure cost is not a barrier to participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
