EmergeOrtho 5K
The EmergeOrtho 5K is an end of season celebration held on May 16, 2026 at the UNCW Greene Track and Field Complex in Wilmington, NC. The event recognizes the year end accomplishments of YMCA Girls on the Run, Heart & Sole, and STRIDE program participants. Boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 take part alongside public runners.
Proceeds from the event support scholarships for future Girls on the Run and STRIDE participants; over 40% of current participants utilize financial assistance. EmergeOrtho is the title sponsor and has supported the race for more than 15 years. The event is organized by the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina with timing provided by Full Send Racing.
Registration for general participants is completed online and on-site registration is not available. Girls on the Run and STRIDE participants and coaches do not register separately for the 5K because their race registration is included in program enrollment. Run buddies register using the link provided by their coach. Registration includes a race shirt and a finisher medal; program participants receive a program shirt and may add a race shirt or tank during run buddy registration.
Awards include male and female overall top three, master overall top three, and three deep age group awards for multiple age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
