Emancipation Day TIMED Run/Walk 2026
The event takes place on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 10 Cherry Brook Road, at the Black Cultural Centre in Cherry Brook, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a timed 5K run and walk offered at no cost. The organizer is BLM In this TOGETHER, a group formed in July 2020 to support the Black Lives Matter movement and to raise awareness about inequality and systemic racism.
The course is measured and starts and finishes at the Black Cultural Centre. The route goes up Cherry Brook Road to a T junction, follows Cherry Brook Road to Loon Lake Road, turns onto Loon Lake Road to a turnaround point, and returns along Loon Lake Road and Cherry Brook Road to the Black Cultural Centre.
Race kits and participant materials will be available at the event location on the day of the run. T shirts are sold onsite for prices starting at 10.00 up to 25.00 and are not included in the race kit. The stated purpose is to honour Emancipation Day and to increase understanding of how historical and current anti-Black racism affects social determinants of health.
