Elsey Mae Memorial Run
The Elsey Mae Memorial Run is a community event held in memory of Elsey Mae. It includes a family friendly one mile and a five kilometer run or walk, with virtual options available for both distances. The in person events take place near Chautauqua Park at 7th Street and Grable Avenue in Beatrice, NE on August 22.
The five kilometer course passes through Chautauqua Park and adjoining trails. The one mile event reflects a daily walking routine that was part of the family life being honored, and participants are encouraged to bring strollers or have young children ride alongside on small bikes.
A memorial program follows the run and walk. The program will include photos and video of the honoree, a butterfly release, and food and beverages. August is observed as the honoree's birthday month during the event.
Proceeds go to the Elsey Mae Memorial Fund. Donations from this year will be made to the Beatrice Public Library.
