Derby Dash for Literacy
ELP's Derby Dash is a themed athletic event held in Rock Hill, South Carolina, specifically located at Riverwalk. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Early Learning Partnership of York County, with all proceeds directed toward supporting early literacy initiatives within the local community. The course and activities follow a Derby theme, encouraging a community focused environment for participants.
The event features multiple distances and activities for different age groups:
- 5K Race: A 3.1 mile running course.
- Family Fun Run/Walk: A 1.25 mile route for walkers and strollers.
- Kid's Hobby Horse Race: A dash for children ages 8 and under using hobby horses.
The 5K Race is open to various experience levels, while the Family Fun Run/Walk provides a shorter distance for participants of all ages. Following the conclusion of the races, a reception is held at the Charlotte Running Company. During this post-race gathering, children can participate in the Hobby Horse Race using provided equipment. The event takes place at 652 Herron's Ferry Road and emphasizes community movement in support of early childhood learning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
