Event Overview

The Elk-Kings Trail Races are held in the Tillamook Forest in Oregon's Cascade Mountains. The event was the first trail race in this area, starting 13 years ago.

Distances

  • 25K: A steep and technical route on single-track that summits both Elk and Kings mountains. The course involves scrambling on rocky paths and finishes on the Wilson River Trail.
  • 50K: This course covers the Wilson River Trail from one end to the other, from Keening Creek campground to Elk Creek campground and back, finishing at the Smith Homestead. It has 6,000 feet of elevation gain and loss.
  • 11 Mile: A new point-to-point course that follows the Wilson River Trail. It has 2,100 feet of gain and 2,400 feet of loss.

Event Base

All activities are based at the Smith Homestead, part of the Tillamook Forest Center. This location serves as parking, bib pickup, shuttle departure point, and the finish line for all distances. There is no parking at the start lines. A shuttle transports runners to the starts.

Post-Race

The finish line celebration at the Smith Homestead includes food and drinks. Every finisher receives an Elk-Kings pint glass. Awards are given to the top three men, women, and non-binary finishers in each distance, as well as three-deep age-group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
